1918

In 1918, Samuel Kravet, a tailor from Russia, arrived in the United States and started tailoring for NYC's wealthy community.
1924

In 1924, S.Kravet & Sons was formed with Samuel Kravet's four sons - Morris, Sam, Sol and Hy selling fabric and trimmings to the interior design trade.
1938

In 1938, the first corporate showroom was opened in Manhattan for the trade.
1949

In 1949, Samuel's grandson entered the business, Mr. Larry Kravet.
1960

In 1960, S. Kravet & Sons became Kravet Fabric, Inc. with a showroom in New York and corporate offices and warehouse in Long Island.

During the 1960's, Kravet Fabrics distribution expanded through a national showroom network and international distribution.
1980

During the 1980's, the fourth generation of the Kravet family entered the business.

New warehouses were opened in Long Island and South Carolina to meet the expanded business demands.
1990

During the 1990's, Kravet expanded its influence in the hospitality and healthcare markets with a new brand, Kravet Contract.
1992

In 1992, Kravet launched an upholstered furniture division to reinforce the expanded fabric business, Kravet Furniture.
1993

In 1993, Kravet established a licensing division called Kravet Collections featuring four categories:

1. Interior Designers
2. Fashion Icons
3. Historical Properties
4. Lifestyles
1995

In 1995, Kravet acquired Lee Jofa, a high end fabric brand with a rich heritage from 1823, including the distribtuion of additional brands Groundworks, GP&J Baker, Monkwell and Mulberry Home.
2001

In 2001, Kravet acquired GP&J Baker, UK Company founded in 1884 which has the largest privately held archive of decorative textiles in the world.
2004

In 2004, GP&J Baker Inc. opened a showroom in London and office and a warehouse in Poole, England to service international distribution.
2005

In 2005, Kravet launched furnishings categories including:

• Carpet
• Lighting
• Bedding
• Decorative Hardware
2008

In 2008, Kravet Inc. purchased Seacloth for distribution under the Lee Jofa brand.
2009

In 2009, Kravet Smart, a value driven brand, was introduced to serve the needs and interest of the interior design community with product categories of fabrics, trimmings, furniture and carpet.
2010

As of 2010, Kravet has 42 Corporate Showrooms, 50 Agent Showrooms, and Sales Representatives that visit customers worldwide.
