| Description | This type of rug is called a Khotan. Khotan refers to the type of design and it's construction that originated in South east Asia, oriental inspired simplistic motifs usually with 3 center medallions and geometric details in borders. They are not highly detail rugs. The construction technique conveys a lower knot count due to the simplistic designs. A dyed, linear kilim type weave is added to the weft when knotting to add dimension and a more antique look. The Turkish, wool knots are coarsely cut allowing for the irregularity in the pile.
