Harwood Steiger, a design studio established by husband and wife team, Harwood and Sophie Steiger, created a lasting legacy for their hand silk-screened textiles. Their studio in Tubac, Arizona founded in the mid 20th Century gained a reputation for its iconic designs of stylized plant and animal renderings, and Southwestern desertscapes. Bamboo, inspired by Steiger's original print called Bamboo, features long stylized bamboo stalks in a lush grove. Sofie?s artistic curiosity about botanicals and herbs were reflected in many designs; plants and flowers being the central theme for some of the most well known fabrics in the Harwood Steiger archive.
